National Fire Safety Week:

Nags Head's National Fire Prevention Week (NFPW) event is an annual Open House held at the Douglas A. Remaley Fire Station 16 at 5314 South Croatan Highway, and this year it occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Nags Head Fire Rescue hosted this free event with activities like fire hose spraying, a smoke crawl, and fire extinguisher training to educate the community about fire safety, including the theme "Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home".

National Night Out:

National Night Out is an annual event where the Nags Head Police Department hosts a free, public event at Dowdy Park on Tuesday, October 7, from 5-7 p.m. to build community and foster connections between residents and law enforcement. Attendees can enjoy free food, games, bounce houses, and opportunities to speak with officers to learn about safety and crime prevention.

What to Expect at National Night Out in Nags Head 

  • Time and Location:

    Tuesday, October 7, from 5–7 p.m. at Dowdy Park, located at 3005 South Croatan Highway.

  • Activities:

    • Free food and refreshments.

    • Games and bounce houses for kids.

    • Community information booths.

    • Opportunities to get free child ID kits.

    • A dunking booth.
